Abstract
This article explores the influence of the great Russian poet A. S. Pushkin on Chinese culture, especially in the context of the 1950s, when China and the Soviet Union were establishing close relations. During this period, Pushkin’s images were actively used in Chinese publications, which contributed to the formation and popularisation of his image after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The article analyses the translated works of Pushkin and books about him published in China during this period, and systematises the ways in which his image was used in Chinese culture in the 1940s-1950s. In addition, the process of adaptation of Soviet literature and Pushkin’s image itself in the context of the Chinese cultural environment of that time is examined, which allows a deeper understanding of the mutual influence of Russian and Chinese literary traditions.
