Abstract
The article presents the results of our experimental study on the translation by students - Belarusian-Russian bilinguals - of the non-equivalent vocabulary from one language to another. Comparative analysis of the obtained data and official statistics allows not only to characterize the specifics of the language situation in the Republic of Belarus, but also outline the prospects for its further development.
