Abstract

Bacteriological studies of the last time have undoubtedly proved the dependence of infectious diseases on the presence of microorganisms. The latter play an important role in surgery. Various deviations in the healing of wounds, as has now been positively proven, depend precisely on the penetration of pathogenic microbes into them, several types of which are already known. In the first place in terms of frequency and importance are streptococcus pyogenes or streptococcus erysipelatis and various species of staphylococci pyogeni. The tremendous success of modern surgery is associated with these discoveries and with the application of measures to eliminate these microbes from wounded surfaces.
