Abstract
The purpose of the study is to determine the strategy of the USA, Italy and Brazil teams for winning medals at the Paris Olympics and to compare it with the results demonstrated by these teams at the 2023 World Championships.
Research methods and organization: The methods used include analysis and generalization of the results of the main competitions - the 2023 World Championships, the 2024 European Championships, the series of qualifying tournaments for the 2024 United States Olympic team and the Olympic Games; expert evaluation and judging of the 2024 Russian Cup; statistical processing and comparison of the obtained materials.
Research results and conclusions. It has been determined that the strategies for forming national teams that became the best at the Paris Olympics differ significantly. The teams from Italy and Brazil have a rather "narrow circle" of candidates and were forced to compete with practically the same lineups at the 2023 World Championships and the 2024 Olympics. The United States has a "broad circle" of candidates for inclusion in the main roster. Therefore, there exists a multi-stage selection system. In the USA team the "second number" holds significant importance, as she should be able to compete for the first place in the all-around final in case of an unsuccessful performance of the leader.
