Abstract
Ensuring food security is one of the main socio-economic tasks for the Russian Federation and for any country in the world as a whole. The development of the concept of food security in Russia and in the world in the period from the 70s of the 20th century to the present day is analyzed, and some ways for further development and improvement of the situation in this area are proposed.
